Who am I?

I decided to show my face and tell you all a little about myself and Bright and Beautiful, Flowers & Table Decor.

The most important thing I would like to share with you all is that I simply LOVE what I do.  When I am arranging flowers I find myself in a place of joy and contentment. There is nothing in the world that soothes my soul more than buckets full of flowers and vases ready to be filled.  I am passionate about all aspects of planning the flowers and table decor for weddings and love interacting with couples assisting them to achieve their vision for a very special day.  I like to give them confidence that I am able to work within their budget, whilst at the same time sharing the knowledge that I have gained over many years in the service industry.

Bright and Beautiful, Flowers & Decor started off as a small business eight years ago.  It happened at a time in my life when I was able to follow my dreams being able to relax and enjoy doing something I loved.  I often tell people that, as I have no daughters of my own, and will therefore never have the chance of being the mother of the bride,  I make all my prospective brides my adopted daughters for a short while.  It is always an emotional moment seeing my girls in their wedding dresses, glowing and looking totally gorgeous as they are about to walk down the aisle.

I was lucky enough to be trained by Joan Pare (Constantia School of Floristry) who was a legend back in the day!  Joan was a teacher, the owner of a local florist shop, author of a book on flowers and a prize-winning flower arranger. In the 1960s she met the English royal family after winning prizes at the Chelsea Flower Show and was well known for her bouquet presentations to The Queen on many occasions.  Although I did not pursue a career in florisry at that time I always maintained a love and interest in flower arranging.  Joan taught me to have an affinity with nature and often, whilst out walking, I will collect bits of bark, pine cones, fallen branches and other interesting bits and pieces which find their way home to be used in arrangements.

I have completed several flower arranging courses over the years to keep on my toes!

South African floral designers can stand tall in the wedding industry.  Our weddings are often featured on overseas blogs and magazines and  I am so proud of the talent we have in this country. We have some incredible floral designers.  Our beautiful wine estates, mountain ranges, game farms and beaches offer such a wide range of incredible settings.

Exposed to media everyone in our industry has to set a high standard.  I would like to think that Bright and Beautiful, Flowers & Table Decor have their own special niche in the market.  We concentrate on completing the guest experience paying special attention to all aspects of decor. We are known for our attention to detail and I am blessed to work with an A Team!  My set-up team are just the best and always have chairs, glasses, cutlery etc. perfectly placed.  Whilst specialising in flowers and table decor we are also available for full co-ordination of your special day.
