Gabi & Gary : Steenberg Golf Estate

The heat was on fro Gary & Gabi's Wedding!  Gabi was part of the Bright and Beautiful team!  They chose 14th June 2014 as their wedding date with a lunchtime wedding reception at Steenberg Golf Estate.

I knew that Gabi would attend to every detail of her wedding, great and small.  She did not disappoint me!  They chose yellow, orange and lime green as their colours and I loved the idea of the brightness for a winter wedding.  I also couldn't possibly imagine Gabi and Gary choosing anything else.  They wanted their wedding to be personal, bright, relaxed, touches of rustic casual but, most importantly, filled with fun elements.

Seven Swans designed all the wedding stationery.  The choice of wedding stationery always helps when styling the table decor as it gives me a good idea of the couple's vision for their special day. We chose wooden boxes that would be filled with a combination of naartijes, dessert roses (succulent) and local indiginous greenery off set by orange and yellow ranunculas and tulips.  The ranunculas proved to be a bit ambitious in June and some of the arrangements we had to use feeling green crysanthumums and tiger lilies.  We decided to include large glass domes filled with oranges and lemons placed on to "discs" cut from tree stumps.  These discs were cut into different sizes/heights and some of them caused the domes to stand at an angle but, funnily enough, when decorating the tables I loved the natural look.  We added random glass vases and bottles filled with complimetary flowers to finish off  the fresh, clean look and funky table decor.

This vibrant couple had liaised with Rob, chef at Steenberg and planned to serve gourmet hamburgers and chips,  milkshakes and lemon meringue pies for lunch.  Even the wedding cake was a large lemon meringue pie.  The chef did an amazing job and presented gourmet hamburgers presented on wooden boards which the couple had made and would also serve as a gift for guests.  Gary's mom had beautifully beaded dessert forks for the lemon meringue pies and these were also bonbonnieres/

Even though it rained in the morning the punchy citrus colours brightened up everything.  They had cleverly decided to have their couple shoot in the afternoon after the wedding reception and this proved to be an excellent idea as the weather cleared and Chery McEwan Photography were able to capture some magnificent photographs.

I hope you enjoy these beautiful pictures and they serve to convey how important it is to choose what you want and that you do not always need to be conventional in your choices.  I am sure these pictures will prove my point.
