Debbi & Chris : Rockhaven

Every now and then it is nice to work outside your comfort zone.

Debby and Chris are a happy, fun couple who knew what they wanted.  How was I going to put together simple, not too many flowers, no bows, no ribbons, no frills, no fancy?  On the positive they said their tables should have lots of candlelight and that they liked the idea of using green in the colour scheme.  With Chris’ Italian heritage they had decided to embrace an Italian vibe.  Antipasti served after the ceremony,  guests relaxing and listening to chilled out guitar and some other “activities” that were to be a surprise.  I don’t like surprises.  I guess I am a bit of a control freak so very uncomfortable not being privy to all the detail.

The ceremony and reception took place at Rockhaven, Elgin.  The day was super special starting with the incredible weather - I have never seen the lake looking as clear as glass with not even a ripple of wind rustling the leaves of the trees.  A pristine Cape day.

The bride radiant and beautiful.  Chris & Debby  you delivered on all your promises and your personalities  were the light and life of absolutely everything.  I loved your idea of the Limoncello drop – guests trying to drive a golf ball into the red boat parked in the middle of the lake.  Chris’s beloved Vespa parked and ready for guests to take a spin or a photo opportunity.  I need not have fretted about placenames, seating charts etc.  You had it all under control.

I will always have wonderful memories of your guests lazing on the lawns at Rockhaven enjoying Liz Wood’s (owner/chef at Rockhaven) awesome spread of food, the fun, the laughter and your family and friends assisting with the décor.  I loved our greenhouse effect with various ferns placed under huge glass domes and in vases , topiary arrangements  together with  bunches of white lisianthus and white snapdragons.  The masses of candles that transformed the room when lit.   I enjoyed picking greenery from your parent’s garden for the flower arrangements.  The challenge of the hanging flower arrangement in the boathouse for the ceremony!   Most of all I enjoyed getting to know you both.  You are an amazing couple.
