Samantha & Paul : Vineyard Hotel

I pride myself on attention to detail. I think Samantha could give me a run for my money!! There was nothing that she didn’t have under control. The photographs are testimony to the fact that no detail at her wedding went without her special touch and consideration.

Samantha (who I have known for many years), from the moment our paths crossed I felt I had a very special responsibility. It was a privilege to be part of the plannning, creating and styling of your special day.

Four months before the wedding Samantha’s company sent her to London for three months. I lost count of all the e-mails and I think, between the two of us, we threw around so many ideas that our heads were spinning.

At our initial consultation we discussed incorporating an element into a wedding that makes it unique and special. Bunnies became central to our design and styling. This was the explanation included on the individualised menus regarding all things bunny.

“You may be asking yourself the significance of bunnies.....

No we haven't gone hopping mad. These cute little animals are special to us because Paul's parents (who speak French at home) used to call Paul "lapin". It is even more special because Rita's (Sam's mom) Chinese zodiac sign was a rabbit. We also just think they are cute. Hope you have a wonderful evening, thanks for sharing our special day.

Paul and Sam”

Sourcing just the right kind of bunny to be part of the table decor brought Andrea Semple, Topiary Creations to mind. She is based in Grabouw and creates amazing topiaries from Cape indigenous foliage. Her project has creates employment for previously disadvantaged women from the local community www.topiary.co.za I approached her asking whether she could make some bunnies using grey foliage. I was thrilled with the bunnies. Cute, gorgeous and appealing and certainly added a fun element to table decor.

All other table decor was classic, simple and pretty. Glass candelabra alternating with tall glass vases filled with pale pink roses, vendella roses, white avalanche roses, white and cream lisianthus, hydrangeas, latifolia, pale pink phlox, white snapdragons and pink larkspur complimented offset with a small silver vases containing similar flowers. We used white on white striped tablecloths and green water glasses to introduce the colour being worn by the bridesmaids.

Beautiful stationery with special words and special thoughts - from the sentimental and very personal Order of Service, streamers neatly packaged for guests to congratulate bride and groom after the ceremony, menu’s tied with bakers twine and finished with a green button to the seating plan. All stationery designed by Vicky Alvarez Campos of Mocho Loco www.mocholoco.co.za Vicky loves to quote “choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life”. Her work is a true reflection

I think by now you understand what I mean when I refer to attention to detail. Robyn and Banqueting Team at the Vineyard Hotel are experienced, efficient, friendly, well-tuned, fabulous and dedicated. If you want a wedding that runs smoothly from initial consultation to the end of your wedding day you should contact them. Working at the Vineyard is a privilege and a pleasure as everything is so well organised. That aside the hotel is situated in the most beautiful gardens and setting with the mountains in the background. The weather was so perfect that all the glass doors of the function room could be opened, something that happens rarely in Cape Town!

Gabriel Shai , professional entertainer, DJ and musician had everyone rocking the clock www.gabrielshai.co.za The wedding ended in true Greek style with everyone dancing The Zorba and throwing plates. The significance is to wish good fortune to the bridal couple and symbolises abundance. Paul’s father Georges got everyone in the spirit with a heartfelt demonstration. Great fun was had by all and literally 100’s of plates were smashed. If all those broken pieces are the blessings that will be Paul & Samantha’s they can count on a life filled with family, friends, fellowship and fun.

Paul & Samantha adore each other and are the most awesome couple. Paul, if the attention to detail at your wedding is indicative of anything it is a certainty that you won’t have to worry about too much. Samantha has everything under control.

Thank you both for lots of fun in planning and being part of your very special day. It was amazing.
