Hanri & Robert : Nooitgedacht

Robert & Hanri were married on 24th October 2014 at Nooitgedacht in Stellenbosch.  A romantic proposal on Table Mountain ,with Robert on bended knee,  "Hanri, will you marry me".  The first words out of Hanri's mouth were "you are joking!".  The perfect moment and Hanri's heart warming smile had a crowd gathered around as she said "yes".

Soon after their engagement Robert heard he had a job in Norwich, UK.  He left two weeks later leaving Hanri to organise their big day.  At times Hanri said she felt daunted by the responsibility of so many decisions but regular Skype conversations made it a little easier.

Hanri chose the colour Coral for her wedding.  Coral has been a popular choice of colour for the 2014/2015 season.  It is an intense, vibrant colour.   I wanted to tone the intensity of the colour down in order to obtain romantic soft table decor and so used various tones ranging from pale peach, apricot to coral and of course, white.  Splashes of coral roses, (Miss Piggy and Karina), gave a subtle "pop"  in the flower arrangements which were placed on glitzy gold sequinned runners.  We used a combination of glass and white ceramic vases for the arrangements and I loved the way everything came together.  Melissa, from Petty in Stains, a friend of Robert & Hanri, designed the stationery - individualised menus and sweetie bags for guests to fill at the candy table.  These  looked amazing on the table.  Hanri added cute little heart-shaped wooden frames with a picture of herself & Robert for each guest and this was a lovely personalised touch and a lovely gift for all guests.

Nooitgedacht is a beautiful venue and the clear blue sunny sky and stunning gardens formed a magnificent backdrop as guests gathered for the ceremony and later enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the garden.  Goeters hung fairy lights over half of the tables and naked bulbs over the other half.  Lighting, something that is often very under-rated,  added glitz, glamour and a fairy tale atmosphere to the room.  Lighting should always be considered as important as it instantaneously transforms any space.

A God-centred ceremony surrounded by family and friends was the beginning of an occasion marked by love and support for Robert & Hanri.  The morning after their wedding they were set out to fly to the UK where Hanri would join Robert in starting their new life together.

I enjoyed being part of creating and styling tables and decor for the wedding.  Hanri, your warm heart and beautiful smile will always be in my heart and I wish you both many, many blessings.

Thank you Debbie Lourens for the gorgeous photographs.  Looking at the photo's now I appreciate that it really is all in the detail.  It is not one element of decor but a combination of different aspects that attributes to lovely decor.  It is worth attending to each element - stationery, lighting, flowers, choice of vases, linen and personalised touches.
